You and your family

Hello again everyone,

Hope you're all having a good week and you're not working too hard :)

This week's task is to write about you and your family. Are you like certain members of your family or are you different? Are you the black sheep of the family? Do you look like your mother or father (or none of them)? Do you take after any of them? Do you spend a lot of time with them or do you see them only every now and again?

Can't wait to read about you

Paul

Well, it seems that I'm the first! :)
In my family we are 4, but since 2001 we were growing and now we are 7:) My parents, my brother, me, my sister in law and my 2 nephews.
I think I'm very similar to my mother (physically), but in term of personality I got both of them:) However, my mother says I'm exactly like my father in terms of personality and temperament.
As for my brother, as do 8 years of difference, he thinks that I'm the sheep of the family that I'm taking it all attention.
Obviously my sister in law and my nephews came later, but proudly say that my niece (the oldest) has my bad shape sometimes! :)
We are a happy family.
I would like to have a bigger one, but I'm happy with what I got!

Hi everyone :)

In my opinion my family has a ordinary size. Each part of my parents family have some similar psychological characteristics, my uncles are mostly funny, hard workers and spontaneous. My grandfathers and my grandmothers have a quite difficult temperament but are very active persons. I am made of a mix of my mother and father and above all I respect and recognize all the success of my mother has a person and professionally, thus she is an example to follow and my personal adviser.
I have a very good looking young brother, although very difficult to deal with.
Above all I love him and the rest of my family and I want to contribute to their happiness and learn with their experiences in order to prevent mistakes.

Hello,

My close family is not very big. I’m an only shield, so, I haven’t brothers nor sisters. It’s only me, my husband, my mother, my stepmother and my father, who, unfortunately, passed away three years ago. So, now we are only four.

From my husband, I have a mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and very shortly, a nephew, who is supposed to born next February!

So, all together, we are nine. My grandparents also passed away some years ago.

Physically, I was look like my father, but, as the time goes by, we become a little bit different. In terms of personality, I’m also like him: a little bit stubborn but not a bad person! I don’t have any similarity with my mother.

I have no kids, so, for now I live with and for my husband. I have lunch with my stepmother every day of the week and, as my mother lives in Fátima, I only see her from time to time but I talk with her every week.

My parents-in-law live in the same neighbourhood as me, but I don’t see them often, besides the fact we have a very healthy relationship.

So, I don’t pay a lot of attention to my family. For me it’s enough to know that they are ok. I’m not a very longing person.

See all of you next monday. Have a nice week-end!

Hello everyone!
We are 4 in my family: my parents, my brother and me. Obvious I have a lot of uncles, aunts and, consequently, a lot of cousins and yet some “2nd cousins” (sons’ cousins)!! In other time, my grandfathers didn’t have TV!

In relation to be the black sheep of the family, I don’t believe in that  but as the oldest daughter, was me that had to suffer with my parents in adolescence! With go out to home, go to the disco, come late to home, etc. A very hard and arduous conquest that after open all doors to my brother.

So, in appearance I look like my mother, in the body shape and in face. As her, I’m a confused (?)/confusing (?) person (I’m joking Paul!!). We are very different in personality. About this, I’m all like my father (in character and “thinking form”), as well as in the breasts and in hair legs (I’m joking again!!!).

Have a nice weekend,
Joana Mendes

Well, in my family we are 4: me, my parents and my younger sister. We are all very different from each other and at the some time we are all very like.

Who I take after? The true is that no one knows it for sure. Some of my friends say I look a lot like my father but for others I am just like my mother. I think I am a mixture of both of them and I like it. Physically, I am tall and thin like my father, but my eyes are just like my mother’s. However I have to use glasses to help my eyesight just like my father does, although he uses lens most of the time. Not everything is perfect….

As for my sister, we could not be more different. Usually people think we are joking when we say that we are sisters. Both I and Teresa – that is her name - have brown hair and eyes, and we are tall and thin, but in spite of all those common characteristics we just do not look like family. The differences get bigger when we talk about our personality. Teresa is a very stubborn and determined girl – when she decides something no one can get her to change her ideas. On the other hand, I am a more patient and ‘chill out’ girl, who does not like confusions.

Nowadays I only see my parents and my sister on weekends, because I am working and living in Porto and they live in my home town, near Aveiro. So, whenever I go home I try to spend most of my time with them.
In spite of all our differences, we love each other very much and that is the most important.

Hi mates

I have a big family, but my closest family has only 5 persons, who include my parents and 2 sisters. I’m the middle one and I’m the “black sheep” ;) because I’m stubborn and extremely independent. Independence is the main difference between me and my sisters.
I look like my mother and father but I have my mum’s personality, so many times when we don’t find a consensus we clash. However, my mum has been always supported me in whatever I need.
My old sister, who has 34 years, doesn’t live with us since her 18 years old because she studied at Coimbra’s college and after, she took a job near Lisbon. When she comes to Porto she takes all my parents’ attention, which is normal even when I don’t agree with some things. She’s more stubborn than me and I in my opinion she’s more dependent, so it’s more difficult to have a peaceful relationship with her.
My younger sister looks like me and sometimes people see me on her. Although, her character is completely different because she’s extremely affectionate and she always avoid a conflict.
To conclude, I don’t spend a lot of time with my parents comparing with my sisters, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t love them. I really enjoy going out, which is the opposite of my mother’s routine, and especially have meetings with my friends in different places. My mum always says “the roof will never fall over you”.

We are three in my family: me, my wife and my 18th month daughter.

Before I got married I lived with my mother and my brother who is five years younger than me.
I'm very different from my parents but in the end I think that my personality had been influenced by my mothers profile rather than my fathers.

I see my mother and brother often because they live in Oporto and we lunch together twice a week. The same happens with my wifes family: my mother and father in law, my bother and sister in law and my only nephew.

Talking about my father things are a little bit differente as he lives in Madeira Island and we see each other only once or twice a year.

Regards
Andre

Hello everyone!

Well, it is my turn to talk about my family. My close family includes 4 persons: my parents and my two youngest sisters.
I feel that I look like my father. I am saying this because I think my personality has received some influence from him. As so, it is true that I am always a calm and optimistic person, and sometimes I can be stubborn as a mule.
Nowadays, I do not visit my family as many times as I would like to. They live in a town near Viseu and so I have to make 130 km every time I want to see them (or vice versa). However, I try to keep in touch with my family by calling them four to five times a week.

See you in Monday!

I look like my father but my personality have parts of both.
I have lots of uncles, aunts, cousins, with someones I have some relationship but with other I only know who they are and it's enough.
Me and my close family have a close relationship, we really know very well, somethings we are very similar but in other we are very differents.

Hi, everyone!

As some of you could confirm I look like my father... even at the grey hair! :-)
I’m an only child so since I was a born until my 16 /17 years old, I was “menina do papa”, but after that I change to “menina da mamã”… It’s very good to be love by both and I’m very proud of them.
My family is small: my father – unfortunately since 2004 I only see him 2 or 3 times a year because he is working in Angola; my mother – I see her every day because we get lunch together and my husband.
These are the 3 most important people in world!
I and my husband want to have a child in a near future, so maybe my family could grow up soon!
