Every week I download a few tracks from Itunes and transfer them to my ipod. I love to listen to music when I'm in the mood, which is any time when I don't need to concentrate (I can't listen to music while I'm reading for example). My taste in music is pretty varied too and you would just have to look at what music is on my ipod to realize that! I'm an eighties boy and music from the eighties features a lot - Alison Moyet, Howard Jones, Kraftwerk to name just a few. Nowadays I download a lot of electronic music and Brazilian music too. Celso Fonseca and Zuco 103 - does anyone like them? Oh, and I have a lot of classical music too. I used to go to bed with classical music playing in the background but I haven't done that for a long time :)
Anyway, what role does music play in your life? What are your favourites?

Music is one of the best partner for the different moments of my life, each moment and situation as his kind of music, for instance, if I need to relax I’ll prefer soft music, like classic music, Gregorian music or meditation music.
When I was a young student I used to study with radio music, I enjoyed a lot to listen a special program on the radio every nights, named “Oceano Pacifico “ , this was my best company during all my study’s night s, that allowed me keep the concentration while preparing to all my exams without any stress.
I like a huge variety of music, as I said it depend of my mood, It can be classic, Pop, rock, Gregorian, etc, and it includes Portuguese musicians (David Fonseca, Pedro Abrunhosa, Chutos e Pontapés), Brazilian musicians (Chico Buarque, Elis Regina) and others international musicians, mainly old ones like, Cat Steven, Bob Seger, Dire Staights, REM, Scorpions, Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.
I like a lot Enya’s music, mainly for the relaxing moments, she has a beautiful and unique voice, which gives enough moments of serenity and pleasure, that transports the listener into magic’s worlds.
iFor me music is a state of soul. When I’m happy, I like to listen to some kind of music. When I’m sad, I like to listen to another kind of music.
I’m used to associate music with some episodes of my life. For instance, when I go on holiday, I always take a different album in my ipod to listen and that album will always reminds me that holiday. When I went to Panama, I took some Brazilian music of Skunk and some American music from Donavon Frankenreiter. Every time I hear these albums it reminds me my Panama Vacations. When I went to Brazil, I listened to Tribo de Jah. This year I’m thinking about to take Amy Winehouse in my ipod.
But music also brings me sad feelings. When I ear Cold Play, it reminds me of my father, without any specific reason, specially the song “Fix you” because of the lyric. I always cry a lot when I ear it.
Anyway, I don’t have a favourite kind of music. I like music for what it reminds me. I have a special feeling for Donavon Frankenreiter (http://www.donavonf.com/) because he is a (one of the best) Surfer singer and his music is very calm and relaxing, Skunk, Tribo de Jah and some old music that reminds me my childhood.
See you Monday

Dear all,
Reading about what Paul, Paulo & Rita have written I'm feeling among them. I'm proud of belong to the eighties' generation, not only about the music but also of all sorts of arts that made remarkable those wonderful years. And the nostalgia of "Oceano Pacífico", yes Paulo, don't try to explain it because nobody won't understand you if they didn't listen to this radio programme.
Yes, my sweeties, it doesn't mean that we are older than the most part of you, we're just little bit wise:-))))
I can't listen to music while I'm reading or studying, too. However I listen to radio during my work day even I need to concentrate in some works, I've fallen into this habit for a long time...
Like Rita I listen to different kind of music and I associate some musics to some people...some places...some moments...:-)))
Just a portuguese one: Jorge Palma, I love him...
Sorry, I stop now, I HAVE to study spanish :-((
Judite
P.S.:I'll never forget John Lennon :-((((((((
Paul,
In the first sentence I put "I'm feeling among them" and it should be "it makes me feel among them".
See you next week,
Judite
Hello!
A gift about music: http://www.musicovery.com/
Enjoy.

Music is a life’s complement. I don’t have a favourite kind of music: classic, rock or disco, only depends the moment/ the situation.
However, I prefer to listen radio: in home, in job, in car; Than listen a CD. During the day I turn on the radio in “Antena 3” or “Antena 1” and at night “Nova Era”.
I prefer Portuguese music like Xutos e Pontapés (I’m a fan!), Clã, Mafalda Veiga, Corvos, … nevertheless in last time, I have listened a lot of popular and regional music. With a brother that plays bagpipes and a boyfriend that plays concertina, it’s impossible listen another kind of music!!! Groups as “Galandum Galandaina”, “Os Roncos do Diabo” and “Canário” are daily in my home!!!! :-))) A real “Arraial Minhoto” or “Festinha Transmontana”, every day in my flat!
Well… not all days, like now. :-( My right lung “plays one trick” to me, so I can not listen music because: classic leave me depressed, with pop/disco/latino music appetize me to dance and with Portuguese music appetize me to sing!!! :-)) So, that activities leave me tired and without air! I profit the time to read, do some pc works and study English… but that last leaves without air, too!! (I’m joking:-) )
I wait see you on Monday! I don’t promise…

Hello everyone!
I love to listen to music as well. When I was a teenager I had my earplugs on all the time. Now that I am older I can’t drive without my radio on. I really enjoy listening to new music and sing along with the latest hits, although I am no songbird.... I also love to watch MTV and VH1 and check out the new artists.
However, my favourite kind of music has to be brit pop. Even though I love Interpol and Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, my favourite bands come from the UK, namely the Radiohead, Blur and Franz Ferdinand. My all-time favourite band is The Divine Comedy. You might know them from hits like National Express or Everybody Knows.
I love their music because it is beautiful, fun and clever. I really appreciate the remarks about poetry, literature and cinema we can find in the lyrics.
There are also some portuguese bands I like and I found some of them in Myspace. Feromona, T.V. Rural and Amigos da Onça are really good and I think they’re going to have great success.
See you tomorrow! :)

Hello people,
I like music very much, but I don't prefer a specific kind of music. Sometimes I listen to Brazilian music like Samba, Bossa Nova or one of other styles that there are in Brasil. I like listen to Portuguese music too, like Madredeus. There are some singers whose are difficult to qualify according some style of music, like Frank Zappa, Caetano Veloso or Pat Metheny. I like them very much.
So, depending of my spiritual state, I like listening to different kind of music, like classical music, Jazz or pop music.
I usually listen to classical music when I am working. I work as a development software and listen to classical help me to concentrate.
See you tomorrow.
Hi everyone!
When I was a child I listened Maria Armanda (Unicef child festival contest winner), Onda Choque and Mini Stars (children bands), Carlos Paião (he was an excellent singer but unfortunately he was young when he died) and Doce (the first Portuguese girls band).
Then as a teenager I was Queen, Bryans Adams, Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston and Guns & Roses fan. I knew all lyrics and in one Carnival Feast I disguised myself as Slash (Guns & Roses guitar player).
Paulo, I listenned “Oceano Pacífico com João Chaves”, too!!!
When I went to University I started to listen to commercial music: disco, radio, cd, ...
Nowadays I like all kind of music but my favourites are:
- “If you were a sailboat” by Katie Melua;
- “Anytime” by Kelly Clarkson;
- “You’re still the one” by Shania Twain;
- “Hey there Delilah” by Plain White T’s;
- “Eu sei” by Papas da Língua.
See you later,
Aldora Pinheiro

What role does music play in your life? What are your favourites?
I like to listen to music. I need music.
When I was a child I’m used to play flute now I just know the music notes.
I listen to music when I drive, when I am at home.
On the radio I listen RFM, M80, Radio clube português, and sometimes Radio Comercial.
My favourite singers are Dulce Pontes, Barbara Streisand, Elis Regina, Tom Jobim, Madredeus, Humanos, Carlos Paião, Maria João e Mário Laginha, Sara Tavares, Andrea Bocelli, Il Divo and there are more singers but I forget the names.
Sometime ago I felt very happy when I found West side story´s cd.
The last cd I bought it was Three Tenors to offer as Christmas gift to my father.
Sometimes I need to listen to Carmina Burana. I like to listen to classic music.
But about music I have fault: I like music but I don’t know the music’s name. And sometimes I know the music, I don’t know the lyric neither who sings.
I hate to listen "quem me leva os meus Fantasmas" do Pedro Abrunhosa.
The music I desire to buy is "Barcelona" by Fredy Mercury with Monserrat Cabalé.
see you late,
Sílvia
