My favourite teacher

Think back to your school days. For some of you this may be a bit more recent than for others. What were your teachers like? Did you have a favourite? Were you the teacher's pet? Did you have a teacher that you absolutely hated? Do you still see any of your teachers around now?

Have a good week everyone!

Paul

All of us had good and bad teachers. Some more interesting than others, obviously! No one remarked me, neither in a positive nor in a negative sense.

Talking seriously, my favourite teacher is my actual English teacher! He has several qualities! But, what can I say about an English teacher that if he won the Euromillions he would buy a flat in Bordeaux (FRANCE!!!!) and if I won the Euromillions I would buy a house in Provence??!!!
So, we would be almost neighbours and we would talk each other in FRENCH!!! AMAZING!!!!

Thank you Judite (blushing) but Provence is as far from Bordeaux as Porto is :)

In long of my student life I have had a lot of teachers, ones better than others! My opinion about them was influenced by their personality, their teaching method or the subject.

Nevertheless, I’m not a “fanatic English student”, I agree with Judite! My favourite teacher is my actual English teacher, because he obliges me to study for write in blog (with as little as possible error’s number!) and because like me he loves cats! This moment, I have a couple: Pepsi and Gil :)

For me it isn’t easy to write about an experience that happened in the other century, it’s hard to believe, but in fact my last lesson with a true teacher “not considering professional training” occurred eighteen years ago, but since 2005 I’m been frequenting an English course in the British Council, and I’m having a very good experience.
I have a slight memories of my teachers, some of them “mainly during my youth” marked me by the bad reason, some because his bossy personalities, no quality to teach, no concern with the learning progress of the pupils, others teachers wasn’t able to keep the attention of their class, others made me sleep, but to tell the true, the most recent learning experiences in the British Council has made me discover my favourite teacher, he’s the actual English Teacher, whose name is Paul, he has a lot of qualities, he knows to keep the class attention, he knows to pass the information, he knows to transform the difficult subject in a easy understand, and so on.
Among all these qualities he has another that make him differentiate even more from the others, he loves Porto Citizens and to live in Porto, “like I love” even knowing that inhabitants of this beautiful city sometimes are misbehaviour, but most of the time is a result of spontaneity and natural behaviour.

I agree with Judite,Joana and Paulo the best teacher is someone who loves living in Bordeaux, talking French, loves cat´s, enjoys living in Porto and speaks English perfectly. This is the reason why I choose Paul as the best teacher in my life and this ability is my dream: speaking English very well, like him!"
See you on Monday|

Paul always give us difficult subjects to discuss!!

I don’t have any teacher that has marked me. I had some good professionals, some nice, some terrible, but I’ve never had one that conquer me. This is, of course, in my past times of school student.

Nowadays, I completely agree with Judite, Paulo, Joana and Maria José: My favourite teacher is Paul, because he has lots of qualities and one more: He knows how to cook Thai food!! I love Asiatic food and Thai food is one of my favourites. So, as Paul is a very good teacher and a very talented man, I think there’s no better teacher than him!

See you all tomorrow! ;-)

Hi,

I think that one of the best qualities of a teacher is to search new ways to help students to learn subjects. I think Paul has this quality and we can identify this by idea of the blog. It is an interesting way to practice writes texts.
Another aspect that I appreciate in Paul is the fact that he likes science-fiction histories, like me, and after he talked about science-fiction books like 2001 – Space Odyssey, I thought that it would be a good way to improve my English because as I saw the film I know the history and it could help me to understand the English book version.

So, I think Paul is one of the best teachers I have had until now.

António Ramos.

Well, after these comments I'm sure Paul won't appear at the class today! and with all these qualities he's ready to become one "Magnific". Paul, don't forget: this group never lie!

See you later?!

At school I always thought that if I liked the teacher, I liked the subject…
So, sometimes I had to make some extra-force to like someone.
But, suddenly I knew someone who guesses my thoughts…
I know him for 5 months and since the first class I felt we have some things in common. The funniest thing that’s happened was when I said “The most important thing in my life is my family”, and he commented “I knew that you’ll say that!”
Would you guess who is he?

Hello,

Firstly, I have some stories to tell about but I choose some of them.
I studied in Carolina Michaellis school.
When I was in 10º year, my latin´s teacher told us we were excellent students but she couldn´t give us the mark we deserved (14, 15, 16), but the best notes in the school. So all marks were cut down.

I have studied English since I was 11 years old, I always was a medium student. I remember an old teacher I had, she realized that most of student’s didn´t know the verbs conjugations, then all months she did surprised test.

In my 10th year of school (???) I had an English teacher that I had absolutely hated. Why? Everyday we were obliged to do English homework (it was good). Then we didn´t understand the corrections, but she didn´t explain the subjects. She had a favourite student in my class (an secretary school emplyee´s daughter)(???).
I and teacher, we hated mutually. In the end of year, she reproved me.
Before I had made the final examination, I had lessons with another teacher (English traduction technics) and she told me she knew my situation, I didn´t deserve to reprove. She confirmed that her colleague hated me.
Then I hated to study for this examination because I must read John Steinbeck book in English. I hated the book “As vinhas da Ira”.
However, I had made the examination and had been approved with a medium mark (=/> 12 marks I hadn´t to do oral examination).
In my opinion, if it did´t happen I would keep learning English in British council. Then I hadn´t met Paul and all my classmates.
Finally, I´m keen on Englih language, I´m studying English, I like to have English homework every week and I like teacher Paul.

see you later,

Silvia

Hello
I finished study in 1995, and during 12 years in school I admitted I like some teachers, they really know teaching, but other teachers weren’t good choices.
I think teachers are an important persons in our life, we can like or dislike some subjects because we have or haven’t a good ant interesting teacher. They can motivate us with their words. I remember a good history’s teacher I had, she can transform our lessons wonderful.
But I agree with Judite, Joana, Paulo, Maria José, Rita, António, Aldora and Silvia, we have a great teacher, Paul is the best teacher I had. I think Paul has an adventure spirit and didn’t need too much to be happy, only the necessary.

See you later.

Paul,

You have to advise this class that you won't have any influence in the FCE marks :))))))
