Easter break

Two weeks holiday. I wonder what everyone is up to. My holidays start tomorrow and I am going to try and catch up on things I haven't been able to do recently. I really need to dig the garden and clear it for the tomatoes and chillis I am going to plant next month. Then I need to go and look for a christmas present for my mother. Yes, a christmas present! I didn't visit my family at christmas and instead I am going to Manchester this Saturday for a week, so I will take her a belated present. The weather forecast for Manchester next week is snow, freezing rain and wind so I am not looking forward to that. Lucky Rita, going to Bali!

Anyway, what about you? I'll try and check the internet in Manchester to read what you're up to.

Have a good Easter

Paul

My Holidays started on Friday but unfortunately they are almost ending, I’m going to work next Monday, I’m using theses free days to rest and forget the work concerns, to take a walk with my daughters and wife and to resolve some pending subjects and task that they are constantly postponed because of lack of time during the work days.
When I haven’t had any daughter, sometimes I used to go abroad on Easter Holidays, but now the family is much bigger, and this reduce the number of options, because the destiny must be chosen taking in consideration the children needs and wishes, and the last and not the least the cost of the holidays with a big family increases a lot.
The Easter day will be passed together with my family and my fathers-in-Law, and tomorrow “Friday” I’m visiting my parents.

Hi Paul,
Bali is still a little bit far. I only go on the 24th April!

But on Easter, I go to the North Spain – Doniños. Is a very beautiful and quiet place near the sea, with beach and forest. The weather forecast isn’t very optimistic, with cold and a little bit rain, but the important is to relax and enjoy a little bit. I don’t like Easter. In fact, I don’t like any religious festivity. So, if I have time, I always prefer to go abroad instead of staying home.

I wish you have a very nice travel and keep to give us news about you. We all keep in touch.

Wish a nice Easter for everyone!

Hi everybody!

At this Easter break I was quite a while with myself. I organized my home and my books, I read quite a lot, I discovered "new" writers, I looked for the lowest "low costs" and I prepared some travels for this year. I did my English homework and I studied it a little bit. I've been studied Spanish hardly because I'll have the exam on 26th April, I'm feeling rather nervous, not about writting or reading but about the conversation. Sometimes I put an Italian word in the middle of the sentences and at this level I can't do that! The Italian betrays me!
I spent an amazing afternoon with David, the son of Maria José. It was wonderful! At the beginning I was affraid, it was the first time I stayed alone with a so young baby: 3 months! but I think he understood my fear and he kept very calm and very nice! It was so strange for me looking at a baby and guess what he wants, what he thinks, what he feels... and the such good smell babies!!! I told him some tales, and he looked me attentively, looking into my eyes and trying to move his lips. For instants I had a strong will to be mother, but it was a fleeting moment!
Now, I'm preparing the "Spring Party", a picnic next sunday afternoon, in my garden with special guests. I always try to do my best for all my guests! I hope it will be a sunny day!

Paul, if you want you can come to our "spring party", alone or with someone, and (obviously) with your cat (sorry, I don't remember the name). I think we live close.

See all of you on 7th April!
(It's a long break, isn't it?!)

Hi everyone,

As I told you, I went to Doniños – Spain on Easter. The weather wasn’t very good: Cold, rain, sometimes sun, but it was good to rest, sleep and read my Lonely Planet guide about Bali!! (I can’t wait to go!!)
I leave you a link with some photos that I took in Doniños. I hope you appreciate them.

See you!

Unfortunately I didn't have access to the Internet while I was in Manchester but I am back now in the office and enjoying reading what you've written. ´

Welcome to the blog Rosa!

Manchester was great. Good to see my family again and see the city where I was born, although I haven't lived there for 21 years! Apart from seeing family and friends I had mainly a cultural week there, visiting art exhibitions, museums and, of course, going to the odd pub and Indian and Chinese restaurants. Last Tuesday I went to Gunther von Hagens Body World exhibition, which is in Manchester at the moment. I don't know if anyone knows anything about it but it is an exhibition of preserved human bodies in various artistic poses. You don't get to know anything about who the people were when they were alive as the people gave their bodies anonymously. I thought I would hate it but it was actually quite interesting.

I also had a day trip to London, 2 hours 15 minutes from Manchester on the train, and I took a friend on the London Eye and visited the Tate Modern Gallery.

Anyway, it's good to back in Porto!

Hello everyone!
Firstly I have to say that last week I was on holidays. It was the first time that nothing bad happened (nobody got ill, went to hospital or died) – it was a really holiday.
I had time to rest, to sleep, to travel, to stay with family and friends, to clean the house and the car (finally), to do nothing and if I wanted I could do more things.
I came back to work on Monday, and since than I hadn’t time to breath. As I think that will be the same until Friday, I decide to write on the blog right now– it is my break and I’m eating a red apple and writing these sentences at the same time – I don’t have internet at home.

Hi everyone!
(Welcome Rosa :) )

Sorry only write now, but I’m on holidays only in English class!! Beyond have lot of work, last days was being very excited because my boyfriend, that until last Saturday used to work in Aveiro hospital, this Tuesday begins to work in Valongo hospital! A very quick and good change, but we didn’t expect that would happen!

Yes, Paul, I saw this “Human Exhibition” in Lisbon, last summer. I don’t know if is the same, but certainly is similar … A fantastic work with the bodies! A real work of art! I loved it.

So, in my only 3 break days (Easter’s weekend) I went to Mogadouro, for stayed with my family and my friends. I love go there in this time, because all my friends are there and we do big parties :)

Good work,
Joana

Hello everybody…

I didn’t have holiday at this Easter break. During this period I have opportunity to know two places in Portugal. First, I know Bioria in Salreu – Estarreja and second I know Montemor-o-Velho near to Coimbra.

The Bioria is an integrated part of the Ria de Aveiro in the Baixo Douro Lagunar region. The people could do a trip by foot or by bicycle in Bioria circuit. The official circuit is circular for about 8,5 Km, witch starts at the Salreu train station and finishes in the same location. Nevertheless, my friends and I chose to do other circuit for about 40 Km by bicycle. It was a funny day witch started at 11:00 AM and finished 3:00 PM.

Now, I will talk about Montemor-o-Velho. In Montemor-o-Velho there is an artificial lake where the people who practices rowing could compete. Every Easter, the Federação Portuguesa de Remo organizes a competition in Montemor-o-Velho with all rowing schools of Portugal. This year I have an opportunity to see the Fluvial Club by Porto city in this competition. It was an amazing experience to see the competitors, young people and seniors, from different schools with their boats in a wealth competition.

Two weeks holiday. I wonder what everyone is up to.

Thank you Paul, you helped me to write about my Eastern Holidays.

In the beginning of first week, I and my mother were invited to lunch with a couple. The couple is my parent’s friend. My friend was celebrating his anniversary. After lunch we went for a walk in Arrifana in Santa Maria da Feira. We know very well Arrifana, but we didn´t know the chapel. She wants to show us a small church called Sra. do Ó.

After that day, I went to cinema to see “Darjeeling Limited“. The review said the film was passed in India. When I entered in internet to know where I could watch the movie, I saw some picture. Then I thought the movie had taken place in Rajasthan. As I was in holidays we went to see it at 18h30. When I entered in the cinema, nobody was there. Until the film begins 6 persons entered. It was one of the worst movies I had ever seen. The movie had no story. The most part of the movie had taken place in a train. The three principal actors were ugly.
Indian has many beautiful Palaces, I even thought to see some landscape. No I was absolutely wrong. The movie was horrible.
I could note that one old lady, in front of me, was regretting to be there with her grandson. Why? Because, the movie had two scenes of hard sex. The film is classified for 12 years. But it was wrong.

In the Eastern day I went to know a restaurant. The restaurant opened in 2005. It is specialized in Portuguese food. It called S. Gião. It is a very good restaurant near Guimarães. As it is tradition of the Eastern day we ate young goat. Desserts were very delicious by the aspect.

See you tomorrow.
