Sports and leisure activities

Hello again,

I do a lot of walking in my free time but I don't practise any sports. What about you? Are there any sports you enjoy doing and would recommend?

Thanks!

I don't like to practise sports and I don't practise any at the moment.
I've practised swimming for 13 years. At the beginning I had an instructor to teach me all swimming styles(?), mainly butterflystroke, because it was difficult for me to wave my body and I hadn't strenght of legs. Then, I prefered to swim alone. It was so good because I became more resistant phisically ( = in fact a "very slim woman" as all of you can see and admire!!)
Now, my only sport is going on foot.
Sometimes I do long walks into the mountains with friends that belong to ecologic movements. I like doing it from time to time, but I'm not so rather keen on this like them.
I'm mostly a city person!

For someone that don't like to practise sports, 13 years of swimming is not so bad! ;)

I know swimming the minimal, only breaststroke! This isn't my strong sport ;)

I’m a sport’s fan!
If I don’t practise any sport, my body feel and my humour and my physical condition give me signs. I frequent a gymnasium where I practise different sports, all of them in group, like body pump, indoor cycle or local gymnastics. They are very active, dynamic and energetic lessons. However, I don’t like swimming and body-building.
I think that the physical exercise was the best medicament for all diseases (mainly cardiovascular), still more if it was accompany by one healthy alimentation and without tobacco! It makes proportionate to, that we have a good physical and psychological condition to fight all pathogenic agents and illness that invade our body.
Physical exercise doesn’t implicate the practise of some sport. We can do it in daily activities like gardening, to go up and downstairs (don’t use the lift!) and walking (e.g. to go down in stop bus earlier than the usual).

Good exercise for all :)

Hi everyone,

I also do a lot of walk in my free time. I wish I could walk about one hour every day in the morning before work but it seems very difficult, because I have a very, very bad wake up! In the morning I’m always in a bad mood!
Anyway, I also go to the gym and do cardio fitness, but sometimes I become very bored, because it’s always the same thing…
One year ago I did my diving course in Koh Phi Phi Don, Thailand, and since then I love to dive. We can dive everywhere, but it seems better in a tropical country where the water is warm and very clear and were we can see a lot of coloured fish and underwater life. I also do ski when I go in winter holidays (like now). I usually go to Spain (Sierra Nevada and Pyrenees) because is less expensive (not cheaper!!) and it’s near Portugal. I also like skiing very much.
But, if I could choose, I dive everyday because I love the sea and the marine life!

I’m not a real sport’s fan. I like walking, if I live near my work I will leave my car at home.
When I came to work by bus I took only a bus and the other part of way I went by food, it’s nice to see the bus and cars at the traffic jam and I continued walking.
I like walking because I feel good, my body and my mind appreciate this kind of sport but nowadays it’s very difficult have time to do that as I like.
I have never practised any sport, my contact with sport it only when I was at school and in the gym. Actually I ‘m going 1 or 2 or 3 times per week to gym but I prefer walk.

I like to practice sports, not as a competition but as leisure activities. I practiced judo, swimming and volleyball.
When I practice judo and volleyball, I was a teenager and the competition was our goal. But, more than competition, I think that the experience of sport, to play with a team, like on volleyball, to learn the necessity of rules like on judo, to understand the necessity to practice and to study, was an excellent experience of life.
At this moment I practice rowing. Rowing is a sport witch athletes against with each other with special boats on the river, lakes or ocean depending the type of race or discipline. Rowing is one of the most complete sports after swimming and one of the oldest Olympic sports.
I am in Fluvial club, a traditional sport club of Porto city where we can find different types of sports. The people in Fluvial like competition and the main goal of the trainers by Fluvial is to prepare the young people for the competition. During last 5 years, the Fluvial have been open classes to people who would like to practice rowing as a leisure activity, like me, witch was an excellent idea.
I advise everybody to practice rowing.

When I was 4 years I started to practise Karate. At the age of 6 I moved on to a village without gyms, pitches, courts,... only fields... So I ride a bicycle every time!
I started play handball outside the Primary School on the ground. Firstly we hadn't a coach, so we lost all games. Than my father became our coach and we won some games.
When I went to the High School I started play Volleyball. There we had some conditions, a real coach and a supporting little crowd that went to see all of our games - we won a lot of its.
I went to University and I was obliged to give up playing these sports - I couldn’t conciliate both things. So I went to "Self defence" and "Flexibility and Localized" lessons twice a week.
When I got my job I stopped to practise sports - I put on weight seriously!!!
Now, as I told you before I go to Gym and to Swimming pool lessons.
Before I twisted an ankle (last October) I used to walk 2 hours per day (1 hour before work, 1 hour after dinner).
Maybe I'll start it soon!
Practise sport is good to physical and mental health!!!

Hello,

First I must express my gratitude to Judite for her help to explain how to publish my comments.
I started to swim when I was 3 years old "I wet my swimming trunks". After some years I returned to FCP´s swimmig pool and I really learned to swim. I like to swim very much but unfortunately I don´t practice by laziness.
Every day I try to walk 10 minutes.
when I was in secondary school I used to do gymnastics, volleyball.
As soon as possible I want to learn dancehall(?).I would like to ride a horse, to swim near a dolphin.
Actually my leisure activity is photograph my flowers (so many exercise!!!!)

see you later.

Judite, you are our mummy!!! Thanks...
At the moment I don´t pratise any sport. I don´t Know if I don´t have time or I can´t organization my daily activities. However, I advise all people to do exercise because it's very good to health, physical and psychologic. In this case, you can apply this proverb: " Look for what I say and not for what I do".
My sports preferences are cycling, swimming, going on foot, skiing and dancing.
My child dream was to be gymnast, mainly artistic skating but I´ve never developed my potenciality.
See you 11th February, I think...
Have a nice Carnival.
